If said in the words of the Minister itself, the Petroleum Corporation is bankrupt! – Ananda Palitha (VIDEO)

The Nigerian company that was awarded the contract to supply crude oil for the next eight months in June this year has not supplied a single drop of oil to Sri Lanka, says Ananda Palitha, a trade union leader of the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation.

“In June this year, we awarded an eight-month continuous crude oil contract to a Nigerian company. This company has not supplied a single drop of oil to the corporation. So we went for emergency purchases and were able to bring in two ships. We have paid more than $ 8 million for these two ships alone. As twenty days go by they will have to pay monthly salaries in excess of Rs. 100 million for CPC’s employees. Due to the loss of 30% of the production capacity per day, it costs more than 100 million rupees per day to bring in refined oil. Petroleum Corporation is bankrupt in the words of the Minister! ”

Ananda Palitha stated this addressing a media briefing held in Wattala yesterday (30).
